Patches McPatches the wandering lion teaches us about life in PNG
The final chapter - until he writes again :-)
By then it was time to
make dinner. We use a lot of coconuts for our cooking here. When a coconut is
ready it falls off the coconut tree, but it looks different to the ones you
see in the supermarket because it still has a husk on it like the ones on the
ground in my picture. Aunty Rosa taught me how to use a sharp stick to rip the
husk off. It takes lots of muscles but she’s very good at it.
After such a busy day it was time to hang out on the balcony of my house with a big glass of juice.
I love my life here in PNG in the tropical sunshine.
Mr Corlett told me that
you’re going to be taking my good friend Henry on some interesting adventures
too so I’m looking forward to hearing lots of great stories from you all.
Bye for now

Now I know why he is called McPatches. The close up in the middle photo shows that he has patches ..... I thought from the wharf photo that they were splotches of mud!
ReplyDeleteHow long is Patches McPatches going to be at Kapuna? We are going there later this year and our boys are excited to be able to meet him.
ReplyDeleteHi! Patches McPatches is due to leave Kapuna in about 3 or 4 weeks when my daughter returns after nearly 2 years. If you would like to know other things about Kapuna, feel free to get in touch and I can connect you with my daughter when she returns. She has been doing admin / dance teaching / school teaching / computer support and any other number of activities during her time there, but has a student loan etc her in NZ that she has to attend to.
DeleteWhat do you see yourself doing in your time there. Will it be short term or are you seeing yourself there for an extended period?
Regards,
Peter
