Notes: As part of helping children to become more critical of their writing the teacher does not proof-read and correct childrens' work posted on their blogs.
These "au naturale" are therefore As-is. However over the course of year you should be seeing your child's writing improving as they take on board the comments left by others looking at and reading their blogs.
So - how is work checked before it is posted?
Children are expected to check and correct their work before posting, using the "See three before me" process -
1. Checking and correcting work themselves.
2. Ask a buddy to check it through...... and correcting any errors noted.
3. Check it with a second buddy for an all clear to post.
4. If they are unsure on something specific they can then see me (teacher) for comment on what they are uncertain about.
Giving feedback.
Please leave comments. Children LOVE to recieve feedback from people - peers, parents, family members, strangers ........ ANYONE.
Check and see if there is a learning intention mentioned - if so, please comment only on how what is posted meets the learning intention. If there is no learning intention mentioned you can make more general comments.
A helpful way to comment is to give a positive comment and a recommendation / suggestion, and a final positive comment - a "feedback sandwich".
p.s. Sometimes the comment will seem irrelevant as children can read their feedback and go back into their blogs to edit and make changes
.Children have been given the following guidelines to assist them.
- Only learning activities and links are to be posted.
- Read through previous feedback comments to help you get better with what you post.
- Include the WALT so readers know why you are posting the work.
- No personal information No phone numbers or addresses. Use only your first name and surname initial.
- Proof read very carefully. Get your work peer checked by at least two other children, to identify any errors. Then correct your work before you post.
- If you get comments that you agree with, about fixing your work , you can go back into your blog and make corrections.
